Bridge Club

Bridge is both a social and competitive.  Players at all levels can learn to play, or improve their skills and knowledge of the game while making new friends when they join the Bridge Club.

Approximately 400 years ago the game of Whist was invented in England. Whist evolved into Bridge Whist in 1896. In 1925 Harold Vanderbilt revised the scoring system to give birth to Contract Bridge.

Bridge is more complicated than other card games.  The game of bridge has two main parts: the Bidding (also called the Auction) and the Play. Bridge is a partnership game requiring four players. The object in bridge play is to win tricks for your side. The first card played to each trick is called the lead. Except for the duty to follow suit, card play in bridge is a free choice.  You play the cards anyway you want, which is one of the reasons bridge is a superior game. The game has evolved into Canasta and "Hand and Foot."

The Bridge Club meets the first and third Friday of the month, September through April at 7pm. All are welcome.
