Garden Club
Started in 1951 to promote the interest in civic beauty, conservation and wildlife, club members have beautified the community with such projects as planting trees on the peninsula and landscaping numerous areas.
A highlight each year is the annual Wreathmaking Party held the first Wednesday in December. In the 1940’s, a candle was lit, Christmas carols were sung and everyone put aside their worries of War for a few hours. The entire community is encouraged to continue this tradition when the very same candle is lit and we make our wreaths, sing a few carols and enjoy cookies provided by the Club.
The Garden Club today meets on the third Thursday of every month at the Clubhouse from September through May. The topic of each meeting varies with many expert speakers presenting programs. Members also enjoy workshops and discussions during the year on a range of topics as raising orchids, aromatherapy, to symptoms of Lyme disease, how to make dried floral arrangements and many more.
