About the United Givers

Packanackers celebrated the 57th year of United Givers Plan (UGP) with remarkable generosity to those in need. Contributions from members and non-members in the Packanack Lake boundaries in 2015-16 reached $30,343. This includes contributions of $550 from the 5k run led by the PLAA and Mothers Club. UGP thanks the 343 Donors on behalf of our Beneficiaries. This is particularly noteworthy when we realize that contributions to non-profits in these difficult economic times are down nationally..

UGP has a rich tradition and has been a source of pride to the Packanack Lake community for over 50 years and is an important source of support for many non-profit community organizations in the area.

Our Mission is to:

Support the Youth
Comfort the Abused
Comfortthe Abused
Feed the Hungry
Help Challenged Adults
Aid the Addicted
Heal the Sick

UGP is an all-volunteer organization of Packanackers. UGP’s only overhead cost is the mailing and printing costs and meeting supplies. All other revenue is distributed directly to the Beneficiaries. While many organizations are worthy of your donations, UGP is focused locally on needs of Packanack Lake, Wayne Township and the Passaic County area.Regarding how much is donated to each organization; the amount is determined based on a formula consisting of the following three criteria:

Value of the organization to Society
Financial Need
Localness of the community it serves

Board members rate all Beneficiaries on these criteria. All potential beneficiaries are required to submit mission statements and financial statements each year.

Follow our progress each month the Pack-a-News. If you are able to volunteer some time to assist UGP and our beneficiaries, we know you will feel it is worthwhile. Most work is done on your own schedule. UGP also needs help in promotion and publicity, thank yous, assisting in the main mailing in October as well as the follow-ups later in the year. Meetings for Board Members are held quarterly and include evaluating new donor requests, reviewing status of our beneficiaries, but mostly to gain new ideas for promoting UGP since we no longer solicit door to door. Our theme for this year is:

"UGP Helps you to Help Others"
